Following Regulation (EU) 2024/2822, the EU design system changed in two phases. The first phase applied from 1 May 2025.

New name, central filing

The former "Registered Community Design" is now the Registered EU Design (REUD). Applications are filed centrally at the EUIPO — national offices no longer accept EU design filings — and a single multiple application may include up to 50 designs, even across different Locarno classes.

What the second phase adds

From 1 July 2026, the reform broadens protection to certain digital and animated designs and graphical user interfaces, and updates how designs may be represented.

We file and renew REUDs as your EUIPO representative, and advise on how the unitary right interacts with Romanian designs and Hague designations.
